La Mesa

Great, cosy atmosphere with a family type setting. The food was plentiful, maybe even too much for just a dinner. There was quite a bit of variety both in flavour and in quality. Service was fast and friendly, but sometimes maybe a little intrusive. Hosts joining conversations for the sake of entertainment, rather than to contribute anything of substance, which felt a bit odd. The wine distribution between bottles and glasses was also a bit confusing. With the wine being a lot more expensive than it should be (when compared to the reasonable price for the food). Overall a pleasant and unique experience for Warwick.

We booked here for one evening as we saw their 7 course menu was only £55pp. We were welcomed when we walked in and picked our table. We ordered a bottle of wine and had our first course. Each course was delicious and was explained to us in detail. We felt like friends instead of customers and had so much fun with the experience as a whole. They explained each dish could vary on the day and that the owner changes them constantly just depending on his mood - which was a really interesting concept and it worked! Everything was fresh and had so much flavour - I can’t fault a single dish. We would definitely come back to try more. The Dubai chocolate crème brûlée was excellent and a great end to the experience, along with the acorn liqueur - which we had plenty of! Overall the bill came to £88 pp, including a bottle of wine, the meal and service charge. We will be back!

That was my first time to have a dinner with no fixed menu which makes me nervous about the quality and cost of food. The food are fresh and the chef is nice to us. They made good food and the place with aura. I cannot drink wine and eat shrimps, but the other food is still nice. I like the dessert a lot. The price is not low because we didn’t drink wine and all the dishes are small portion except ravioli. But it is acceptable that we had a happy dinner there.

Third time at La Mesa last night and as usual we had a brilliant evening. The restaurant was busy and buzzing and the food was great. Five delicious courses, excellent wine and warm friendly service from the staff and chef himself. For the quality of the food and experience, I think this represents very fair value for money. It’s truly delicious food and brilliant atmosphere. Looking forward to our fourth visit again soon.
