Elliot’s Bistro

The food at this place might pass as decent for local British tastes, but subjectively I found it quite unpleasant - and at a rather high price for what it was. We asked for bottled mineral water. They brought an already-opened bottle that tasted suspiciously like tap water. I’m fairly certain that’s exactly what it was… charged at mineral-water prices.

Booked a family dinner for Dad's 75th birthday here tonight, and we definitely won't be back again. Before we even started to eat, the smell of paint was so overwhelming we had to close the window. 3 of the starters had to he sent back again. The Cleos plate (Basically a ceasar salad) was absolutely disgusting. Slices of processed chicken with a thick yellow mayonnaise (photo attached, including the brown bit of chicken). The salt pot must have fallen into the soup of the day, and the smoked toast was sodden with sweet chilli oil (not mentioned in the description). The coke and Club orange must have been 'on tap' as there wasn't much flavour in either. For mains, the strip and dip (chicken goujons) were tasteless and greasy, the cod in breadcrumbs (was it cod?) was stodgy, the bacon on the burger was cremated and the tobacco onions were cold. Eating these is probably what caused my brother to be quite ill not long after eating. We didn't even wait to have the birthday cake brought over. We collected it, paid our bill, and couldn't wait to leave. Never to return again I might add. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Chantelle (I think her name was), but the kitchen seriously needs to sort itself out. I'm very disappointed indeed.

17.06.2026 from 6.30pm to 7.45pm was subjected to a foul mouth group of 12 persons of mixed sexes and various ages whilst trying to enjoy an evening meal with my wife. The fact that my wife and I where seated near entrance to venue and the group was at the bar we had to endure their loud vulgar raucous throughout our dining. Management made no effort or attempt to request they refrain from their behaviour. Wouldn't recommend venue.

The food was absolutely amazing and even though we didnt have a reservation the staff were amazing to book us in a table of four. The staff were absolutely amazing and polite. Definelty a really good experience and I would definetly return with family and friends.

Lovely meal and service every time. So much variety and flavour. The only thing I don't like is the carvery gravy. Please improve it.
