A pit stop from a drive along the motorway led us to this wonderful chippy. As we pulled into the small, dedicated car park at the front of the shop, we could smell the lovely beef dripping. On entering, it was immediately clear that the staff were proud of what they do. The shop was spotlessly clean and tidy, and the polite, friendly team were smartly dressed. I ordered the regular haddock and chips with scraps, and the fish was plump and delicious, coated in a tasty, crispy batter. The chips were thick and full of flavour. I also ordered the Special fish, which was a large haddock. Now then, the presentation looked like a fox had been at it, and I was a little disappointed at first glance. However, once I started to dismantle it, it proved to be incredibly tasty, with huge flakes of light, crispy batter. The haddock itself was thick, fresh, and subtly flavoured. The mushy peas were not as thick as I would have liked, but they were tasty and did the job. The fishcake was plump and tasty, with the potato slices on either side cooked to the perfect tenderness. Overall, if you are anywhere nearby or travelling along the motorway and in need of a pit stop, this one is well worth calling in off Junction 26 on the M62 for. 🟠 Cooking in: Beef Dripping 🟠 Payment: Cash or Card 🟠 Fish Reviewed: Haddock 🎥 See the full video review on The Chippy Tour YouTube channel
First time ordering from here, it arrived quickly and piping hot so no complaints from there. I was a bit disappointed with the portion size (both the chips and the fish), it was also lacking any real flavour. Lastly the fish was really greasy, definitely had better from other local chippies at a cheaper price with better quality. Probably won’t order from here again.
I’ve used this chippy for years. Always happy. The lady that was working when I came seemed more obsessed with people parking in her car park that shouldn’t be than being polite and gracious to customers. Stood at door with a face from thunder, arms crossed. Made me think maybe it was shut. Or I had done something wrong. But no, begrudgingly she served me. Nowt wrong with food but got made to feel like parking in her car park meant more to her than buying fish and chips. I’m sure she gets enough trade from over the road ? But that’s nowt to do with me. Just my observation of my experience.
We just had Fish, chips, scallops with 'Scraps' Mushy peas and curry sauce. Everything was beautiful 😍 Good service and Very clean. Would highly recommend.
Awful chippy ! ☹️chips where like rubber uncooked and raw! Gravy had no flavour good it was a small portion ( chips and gravy for £4.20) It was less to through away in the bin! Edited after reply: Hello Owner! i can only say how disappointed i was after seeing such a lovely marketed fish and chip shop saying chip shop of the year! and a very attractive shop front i was expecting good food! so it was just lunch i didn't want much so simple chips and gravy would be enough! so when eating chips that where undercooked and gravy with no flavour was such a let down i felt a review was needed if only to let you know you need to try harder or be constant in the cooking processes you have in place!
I enjoyed my fish n chips each time I have been. Nicely cooked and crispy batter and a good amount of chips. 👍👍
I ordered a medium fish and chips, the same as the person in front of me. The fish they gave me was literally half the size the one they gave to the other person. This was after I waited probably 15 minutes in total from entering (there were only two people in front of me). If my fish was a medium, what size is a small? It's very disappointing because the fish and chips are cooked well. It's the second time I've been annoyed going here, the last time when they wanted to charge me £2.40ish to have a handful of chips on top of a fish butty.
