Yarm Road Fish and Chips

I searched the internet for the Best Fish and Chips in England, and this place came up as being voted No1 last year (2025) I live in London, so a fair trek for me, but, I did have a trip to Scotland coming up, so, I on the next time I was travelling to Scotland from London, I made sure I visited. It was definitely worth it, the 2 girls behind the counter were lovely, and the Fish, Chips, Scraps, and Cheese Savoury were delicious!! And, all at a price (£15) that I can barely get the fish alone for in London! Highly recommend, for quality and value!!

Fantastic food - we came here after reading that they’re the nation’s best fish and chip shop, so very much wanted to try. They did not disappoint, light and crispy batter, soft fresh cod and delicious chips. The tartar sauce is homemade. Great selection of sides. We had a medium cod and chips, a large cod and chips and teas. Simply fantastic food. The tea was enough for two and a half cups each. Table service was great, gave us time to look through the menu, and ordering through to clearing the table was efficient and friendly. Loved the calm and warm atmosphere. Toilet facilities were spotless. I can’t fault it. Definitely coming back!

Treating Dad to a little bit of something naughty! It's Fishy Friday People Winner of the National Fish & Chips Awards 2024 & 2025 Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year! The chip shop that put Darlington firmly on the map apparently 😂😂😂, the railway at all hahah Was really great, proper excellent food, salt and pepper squid was amazing, fish and chips also amazing..... Will be back. Excellent service too, lovely helpful team of people here 💛💛💛

Busy day out and about and always wanted to try this place but living over 20 minutes away it was always difficult to plan. FFWD to yesterday and we called in to the restaurant. Got met by a very polite lady who showed us to our seat. Place was very clean and welcoming. Drinks were here in no time and food had a little wait but if it’s fresh then all the better. Food arrived and young lady was once again very polite and attentive. All in all the best fish n chips we had had in a very long time. First. Class from walking in to walking out.

Once again we've just had the most delicious fish & chips and my husband had the haggis and chips. Chloe and Hannah were serving and both are an absolute delight, nothing was too much trouble! Its a definite "go to" after a busy day when I can't be bothered to cook. Would recommend!
