A simple order of large chips. Had to wait a while as they were cooked fresh but they were perfect. Lovely chatting with the owner who was telling me how times have changed for his business and sadly not for the better. If you’re ever passing, make sure you drop in. Support local.
Brilliant, fish and chips, very tasty and clean a proper old fashioned chippy(the owner is a right character). If your in the area it's well worth a visit.
Place seemed clean and promising however one server couldn’t keep up. Menus on wall was a mystery couldn’t see fish and chip price maybe I’m blind or it was obscured by the queue. Fish cooked on demand?! I understand why but hence the wait so I left.
Staying on the nearby Campsite, and fancied some fish & chips, so visited the local chippy..... and wished I hadn't upon being told they had no haddock, settled for a jumbo battered sausage, chips and gravy The chips were awful, rock hard and overcooked, the gravy was tepid & lumpy, and the sausage was undercooked, and coated in a batter which tasted burnt and which was as nearly awful as the chips. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!! (I highly recommend the nearby Italian, we went the next night and the staff were friendly, helpful and the food was far superior)
Had fish and chips, had change from a fiver!, fish freshly fried, only had to wait a few minutes. Very small portions, chips were poor, fish was ok, but would pass for a 'mini's fish elsewhere. Get what you pay for I guess.
The best fish and chips in the realm! I have been five times now it's been great every time. The interior design is very charming in the indoor eating area, it takes me back to the 19th century. And it only cost 7 quid.
Fries: quite good, but not the best ever (as some reviewers suggest) Fish: good quality fish, but very greasy. Nice owner. Be aware that this is a cash only shop. I got money from the store just across the road, so no problem in the end. You pay 5 pounds for either haddock or cod and 2 pounds for a portion of chips.
