The Still & West, Old Portsmouth

We had a lovely meal at Still and West. The food was beautiful. Our waitress was extremely friendly. I would highly recommend here. I did feel a little sea sick sat by the window, which was an interesting experience and apparently can happen but it was so beautiful looking out of the window seeing the world go by.

This pub has to be the best in Portsmouth. We had such a fantastic night at the still and west, the food was amazing, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was fantastic, not to mention the views! Special thanks to Shah who looked after us so beautifully all evening, my nut allergy was well catered for and everything went so smoothly. Thank you for making our family reunion one to remember 💛

Our first visit but we will be back. We arrived around midday on a Saturday and the outdoor terrace was busy, however inside there were free tables. We met the landlord who showed us around and kindly found a table on the first floor overlooking the harbour. Our server was Oscar who was knowledgeable and helpful throughout. Menu was excellent with a good choice of local sourced dishes. The room had a/c and the harbour was a constant buzz of activity. Several of the rooms were available to hire and we heard that later they had a wedding there. Excellent venue for any sort of celebration as the location is steeped in history. Good choice of drinks from the bar too. Note it’s in the old quarter of Portsmouth but you can find street parking and it’s not too far from Gunwharf quayside. A fabulous spot to which we will undoubtedly return.

They missed our emails regarding accessibility requirements. However, Emma was a great host. Our party of 11 were well looked after. Service with a smile and a bit of banter. An annual trip for all of us for several years now. Sadly the kitchen was not on point on the occasion. Poor steak steak cuts, over done battered fish, low temps, etc. We'll be back next year and hopefully Emma will still be here. £450 bill. 🖖🏻

I've been wanting to try The Still for a while, so made an impromptu booking for Bank Holiday weekend and tir in a few things we missed whilst on holiday. Booking online was easy, just pick your date and time and where you wanted to eat - bar or restaurant. We opted for the restaurant. On arrival we checked in, and were shown to our table upstairs in the restaurant. The views were brilliant, overlooking the harbour entrance with plenty of boats and ferries to watch coming in and out. Service was really good with a bottle of water bought to the table then drinks order taken. These arrived promptly and after a few minutes of deliberating over the menu we all put our orders in. After a short wait the food was bought out and we tucked in. 2 lots of fish and chips and two burgers (I added bacon to mine), all cooked to perfection. The fish was flaky and batter crispy (I was advised by my 12 year old!) and the burger done just right (slightly pink in the middle and juicy 😋). After a quick clear up, dessert menus arrived, and great to see a small pudding and hot drink combo, something that we'd not seen before, on the menu. Two of these chosen, a chocolate brownie sundae for the boy and possibly the nicest treacle tart I've ever had for me! As far as service went, the staff were brilliant, attentive and went about their jobs professionally with a little bit of banter thrown in. Very vibey atmosphere made this a great lunch out and will definitely be back!
