Amazing food and very helpful service, all the dishes were good but the curry they suggested is well worth visiting just to try it

Four of us got to try the new restaurant, Nirai, heading there just before the England World Cup match kicked off. We ordered the Apollo fish and Mangalorean chicken ghee roast as starters. For mains, we had the Kothu parotta with Nilgiri mutton curry, the Karaikudi prawn masala, and a side of chicken fried rice. Deepika looked after us very well. The atmosphere was decent, and the food is tasty. Portion size are small and pricey.

I have went last week and ordered Tandoori chicken and kizhi parotta chicken. It was excellent—perfectly marinated and cooked. The spices were well balanced and authentic. And the kizhi parotta was soft, flaky, and packed with egg omelet with authentic taste. A must-try dish for anyone.

I recently tried the famous Nirai Seeragasamba Lamb Biriyani at Nirai, Reading, and it was one of the most authentic South Indian biriyanis I've had in the UK. The biriyani was outstanding. The Seeragasamba rice was incredibly fragrant and perfectly cooked, absorbing the rich blend of spices while maintaining its distinct texture. The lamb was tender, flavourful, and cooked to perfection, making every bite satisfying and memorable. The balance of spices was excellent, delivering authentic Tamil Nadu-style flavours without being overwhelming. What truly elevated the experience was the warm hospitality and excellent customer service. A special mention goes to Deepika, who was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our visit. She ensured we were comfortable, answered our questions with a smile, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Her outstanding service added a personal touch that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere, generous portions, and authentic South Indian flavours that stand out from the crowd. Combined with the exceptional service, it made for a wonderful dining experience. If you're looking for authentic South Indian biriyani in Reading, the Nirai Seeragasamba Lamb Biriyani is a must-try. Great food, excellent service, and special thanks to Deepika for making our visit memorable.
