We had a great experience at the Designer Outlet. There are lots of bargains we didn’t go home empty handed. I must say as well that the staff of the outlet were very polite from every store that we went to. To top off our trip at the Outlet, we treated ourselves with some pretzels which we are looking forward to eat. Very kind staff at Auntie Anne’s, definitely recommended. 5⭐️
Clean modern looking interiors, contrast with large items of original industrial machinery displayed at intervals throughout the centre. Net result is a pleasant enough shopping experience with some added historical interest thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed my visit there, though did find it a bit warm inside at times. Large expanses of glasswork in the ceilings have the potential to become a literal greenhouse during the summer months.
We Visited on Easter Monday and had awesome experience. One of the cleanest outlets in the UK. Food court is seperately from shopping area. That makes shopping a great experiennce. Genuine discounts available from great brands. Spacious area for allocating big crowds. Fossils, Adidas, Skechers, Puma, Lindt, M&S, Tefal having great discounts going on. The toilets are clean even 7pm in the evening too. Hats off to cleaning team. Great shopping experience. Nice place to spend a day when shopping comes to our mind.
What started as a quick detour on our way back to London turned into the most relaxed shopping experience we've had in ages! Arriving two hours before closing on Friday was absolutely brilliant timing - no crowds, no stress, just peaceful browsing through a genuinely charming outlet. The parking fee felt totally reasonable The covered design is genius! While most UK outlets leave you battling whatever weather throws at you, this place keeps you cozy year-round. Perfect for our unpredictable seasons. We snagged some great sporting goods and fashion bargains - yes, "discount" designer prices are still pricey, but definitely better than full retail madness. The food court and coffee shops were perfect for a quick break, and everything felt clean and well-managed. Two hours flew by exploring this compact but well-curated space. It's refreshingly manageable - you can actually see everything without feeling overwhelmed. Our spontaneous stop turned into a thoroughly pleasant shopping adventure that left us both happy and satisfied! Revisited: Midweek morning. Excellent experience. VERY quite and (mid may) deals were so good that budget was blown...
This is much more than a shopping destination—it's a remarkable piece of British industrial history. The outlet is located within the former Great Western Railway Works, established in the 1840s under the direction of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. For over a century, the works served as one of the UK's most important railway engineering centres, where steam locomotives were built, repaired, and overhauled. At its peak, thousands of skilled engineers, craftsmen, and apprentices worked on the site, making it the economic heart of Swindon and earning the town a reputation for engineering excellence. As steam railways declined during the 20th century, activity at the works gradually reduced, and many operations eventually closed. Rather than allowing the historic buildings to fall into disrepair, a major regeneration project was undertaken in the 1990s. Former engineering workshops, where locomotives and railway equipment had once been manufactured and maintained, were carefully restored and transformed into the Designer Outlet. The redevelopment preserved much of the original Victorian architecture, including the vast brick buildings, iron structures, and industrial character that make the site so distinctive today. Walking through the outlet, it's easy to imagine the bustling workshops that once filled these spaces. Information displays and preserved features help tell the story of the workers and innovations that shaped Britain's railway network. Families can also enjoy child-friendly attractions, including ride-on cars and train-themed activities that connect younger visitors to the site's heritage in a fun and engaging way. This successfully blends history, architecture, shopping, and family entertainment, creating a unique experience that celebrates both the town's past and its modern transformation.
