This was the first proper fish & chips I got in the UK, and oh my god, it didn't disappoint. Fish was perfect, fantastic, delicious, etc etc. Chips were flavorful and lovely. The guy behind the counter was courteous, but no-nonsense. He was there to get you your food, and by god, he's gonna do it. The place itself was a bit dirty, but nothing egregious nor a health concern. It's one of those places that you walk into and see that the love goes into what it should go into in a restaurant: the food. I also think I got a chicken burger (this was a couple years back), and I recall that being a pretty good burger. Not as good as the fish n chips (not a surprise), but it was still very good. Much love to Happy Cod, I hope to be back someday.

I've been using happy cod for a few years and it was excellent. I say WAS....the prices jumped up overnight and the quality of the food just isn't as good. I was served quickly though, under 3 minutes in and out! However, the chips weren't cooked thoroughly and the fish was dry. I preferred how it used to be, waiting a little longer but then enjoying nice chips and fresher fish! So in short. Prices up, quality down. ☹️ I'll be searching for another chip shop...

After using Happy cod fish and chip shop for many years, this is the first bad experience I’ve had. My partner ordered fish and chips and two halloumi, once we gotten home we soon realised the fish wasn’t in the bag, I called the shop and questioned where the fish was and the waitress never actually processed this on our order, we agreed id be back for the fish in a few minutes. When I got to the shop they expected me to pay for the whole price of the fish…after already paying separately for the chips, Instead of charging me for the difference of meal price (which I would of been more than happy to pay the difference) the shop wanted us to pay for them in full separately even through it was the waitresses mistake on the till that the fish never got put through on the OG receipt. The shop offered for free chips…but no discount on the fish. I had already ordered chips what was supposed to be with my fish, why would I want any more chips? Thankful the chef resolved the situation well for us, however after the whole debacle the first part of my order was cold and inedible so rather disappointed and I don’t believe this would of happened with previous ownership.

Just picked up Fish & Chips and have to say was really nice. Fish was cooked to perfection and good size, chips were cooked nicely too, and with fresh oil by the looks of things which is hit and miss in some other places. Well done guys 👍

OMG YUM! I used for the first time today after the chippy in Redhouse closed and took over here instead. I had Hake and chips which was fresh and delicious. Perfect amount of salt and vinegar also. I also tried the battered sausage which was nice and crispy. Onion rings were also very good. Definitely the best chippy in Swindon!

Happy cod has recently been under new ownership and you can really tell! The service was unmatched, although it was busy our food came rapidly! Polite and happy workers who gave fresh delicious food.

Have used this chip shop for years, definitely gone down hill after change of ownership. Prices gone up and the quality of food gone down. The batter on the cod was unusually salty and the portion of regular chips was smaller than usual.
