Cerutti "2"

It’s probably 15 years since we last ate here but we wanted to have some seafood so decided to try it again. We parked outside and they gave us a pass to put in the car. We didn’t have a reservation but they had a table (1915 on a Thursday night). Staff very friendly and helpful. I didn’t find the menu that easy to read but there was a great choice of mainly seafood options plus some daily specials. The decor hasn’t really changed over many years - one large dining room with a minimal but elegant decoration style. We had the duck salad and whitebait to start. The whitebait was excellent but the duck was quite basic and the taste was mainly from the hoisin sauce. For mains my wife had the salmon and prawn Thermidor and I had the mixed fish and shellfish. The Thermidor was a very rich sauce and the seafood was well cooked and tasty. My mixed fish and shellfish looked very uninspiring when it arrived and tasted quite bland so it was OK rather than great. We passed on dessert. It’s a really difficult one to rate - the food is good but not good enough to entice us back. The plating just lacks any imagination and therefore looks more like home rather than restaurant cooking. Service was great with lovely staff. Overall 4/5

Cane here with my friend on Friday night. The service was brilliant, they were so lovely. I had the monkfish pondicherry and my friend had the plaice special. We also treated ourselves to mini desserts with dessert wine. The food was delicious and portions were generous.

The food selection and service is perfect. I have never had fish so deliciously presented and perfectly cooked. The sides, equally were complimentary and perfectly cooked. Its a busy, high ceilinged room so inclined to be quite noisy. Thr tables are well spaced and the service is good. Exceptionally good value. The menu is far reaching not just for the fish lovers amongst us but also for those preferring something different. Easy parking too. Visit if you are a seafood lover, it's so good

Excellent fish restaurant! The food was delicious and the atmosphere very peaceful. Special mention to the service. It was one of the best I’ve ever had, the staff is really caring and attentive.

the food was not great, too bland, mushy peas were not very mushed properly very lumpy, the salmon was unseasoned and the mushroom soup was very disappointing, the king prawns were overcooked and the salt and pepper squid was cold, no salt and pepper, a very yellow colour, unseasoned. The chips didn’t taste like they were homemade which was really disappointing. Overall the food was very disappointing. The service was very creepy, kept staring while we was eating our food, made us uncomfortable to eat. The appetisers were surprisingly okay, the one waiter was very snarky and unpleasant to be around, the "cerutti 2" was very small portion considering it was £27 which is expensive for what you get, i got the king prawns with garlic and lemon butter and again was so overcooked and the cerutti 2 which was very small for the price it was set on. overall if you are looking for a seafood restaurant, i would not recommend this restaurant.
