Damascena Coffee House Birmingham City Centre

I’ve visited Damascena twice now, both times by myself, and honestly I loved the experience every single time. From the moment you walk in, the interior and atmosphere make you feel like you’re sitting in a traditional Arab coffee house. The design, lighting, and calm music create such a relaxing environment where you can truly enjoy your food and unwind. The first time I visited, I went in with no expectations at all, but I ended up trying the tahini and dates milkshake and it was absolutely amazing something completely different and genuinely memorable. The second time, I had the mixed shawarma wrap with lamb, beef, and chicken along with another milkshake, and the food was fresh, full of flavour, and really high quality. The service was also excellent both times the staff were friendly, helpful, and the food arrived quickly. Yes, it’s slightly on the pricey side, but honestly the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience make it worth it. A perfect place to relax, enjoy good food, and appreciate the ambience. Definitely a 5-star experience for me.

A relaxed and authentic Middle Eastern eatery. The chicken shawarma was good, with generous amount of filling and served with garlic sauce and pickles. The chicken was slightly dry though. The harissa hummus was very good, well flavoured with a spicy kick. The zaatar flatbread was also very good, generously topped and very soft. The lentil soup was simple yet good. I particularly liked that it was served with dates and really liked the croutons it came with. For drinks we ordered a pot of cinnamon tea, which was well steeped and had a good portion. It was served with sugar sticks but we had it without. The ayran drink was very good, cooling tangy and refreshing with a strong hit of mint.

Every aspect of our lunch here made for a wonderful experience. Foysol was so accommodating of all our needs and constantly served us with a smile. His attentiveness is particularly impressive considering the amount of people there to eat. The food was incredibly flavourful and the menu has a lot of depth. Everything we ate was clearly high quality. Would come again.

When my friend told me "I am going to bring you somewhere where you’ll have the best milkshake you’ve ever had!" I believed her of course but what I had instead goes far beyond! 🥤The tahini & dates milkshake is rich, creamy, with bits of dates and nuts that keeps giving at every sip! Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s such a unique combination and definitely a must-try. The omelette was cooked to perfection — light, fluffy, and full of flavour with herbs and chilly. We ended our breakfast with an assortment of baklava and a very high quality espresso coffee. Food, atmosphere and service excellent. Highly recommend…and certainly my place to go when in town.

Beautiful locals in the center of town. You maybe lucky to find parking locally, but there's motorcycling parking right next to it. We were seated quickly with and the atmosphere is lovely inside and out. On good days there is seating outside. There's lots of drinks and food options which was a nice surprise. The menu has a fair number of vegetarian options available. Food arrived quickly and was nicer than I expected. It's a nice place to come to sadly the staff really need a moral boost. I understand it can get busy but a friendly demeanor would make the place that much more welcoming. All in all I'd be looking to pop by again. ENJOY.

Very nice place with a lovely atmosphere and tasteful decor. The breakfast was enjoyable overall, and the coffee was good. The omelette was a little dry, but everything else was well presented and pleasant. A nice spot for breakfast, and I’d be happy to visit again.

Damascena is a nice place in a central location, making it an easy stop if you’re in the area. It’s centrally located with plenty of seating available both indoors and outside at the front. The décor and overall atmosphere are a real draw and add to the experience — we were taken to a very beautiful indoor room, which made the visit feel special. The menu is rich and varied, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, and the drinks are good. Food was well cooked, served in good portions, and reasonably priced for the quality. Overall, it’s a great spot and I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re nearby.
