Absolutely brilliant pie and mash! The food is delicious, the portions are generous and everything tastes fresh and homemade. The pies are packed with flavour, the mash is spot on, and the liquor is the perfect finishing touch. The staff are really friendly and welcoming too, which makes the whole experience even better. You can tell there’s a lot of pride that goes into the food. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a fan of proper traditional pie and mash. I’ll definitely be going back!

Great to find an authentic pie and mash shop outside London. Great food and the owners were really welcoming. Took my mum for a pie, mash and liqueur pilgrimage from Norfolk and it didn’t disappoint. Will definitely go again and take advantage of their delivery service.

Propa nice bit of grub. You will come away from here feeling full and happy! Pie was cooked to perfection, mash was soft and smooth. Liquor was creamy. Staff were so friendly. Nice lunch time visit which I'll be sure to make more off. My 5 stars is an accumulation of food, cleanliness, staff and nostalgia.

Amazing pie and mash shop with a lovely atmosphere & personable staff. Very pleased to have gluten free options for pie mash & liquor, and fruit pie! You wouldn't believe they were gluten free Cant wait to come back for more 🙂

This wonderful little establishment was founded in 1862 and is fifth generation family owned and as soon as I walked in I was greeted warmly by a lovely lady originally from Stepney (it doesn't get more East London than that). The signed photo of Chaz & Dave at the back is quality and also they were promoting a tribute band to the famous duo giving testament that this place is the real deal! The restaurant has Prime location on the High Street and the closest parking is Apton Road Car Park less than two mins walk away and priced at £1 per hour. The establishment was clean and well presented. I went for a Double-Double and a can of drink, no Sarsparella which was a shame. The food was served piping hot all made the same day on the premises and reasonably priced. Everything tasted just as it should and there were both vinegar and chilli vinegar available on all the tables. Takeaway options are also available. Definitely a must for those who don't live in London but miss the delights of a traditional Pie & Mash shop. Bishop Stortford is within an Hour of Huntingdon, Stevenage, Cambridge & Chelmsford and of course close to Stansted Airport. A new favourite for me, I shall definitely return again

Had an early lunch here today whilst busy at work on a Sunday, honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better, pie and mash was top tier and always great having a sarsaparilla to go with it, met the owner Fred and he made me feel like I was having my food at home with family, what a lovely geezer who seriously cares about his customers, his business, his family and his heritage in the pie and mash game great stuff
