We've been going to Kan's for many years. The quality can be a bit 'hit and miss'. Some dishes can be delicious. However, they seem to raise their prices every time we go (considerable price hike). Quite often we order something but when we check the order at home - a dish is missing from our order. Recently, my husband took a 'Post-It' note to the takeaway, detailing the dishes that we wanted to order and a Chinese lady raised her voice and shouted at him 'I don't read English'....It was quite embarrassing for my husband. He was not happy to be spoken to in that way - considering the takeaway was full of other customers. I personally would have walked out without placing my order. My husband doesn't speak or read Chinese, so it's difficult to know how to pronounce some of the dishes! They're supposed to be offering a 'service' to their customers - they shouldn't shout at customers (it's one sure way to lose customers). Yes, it's nice to have food locally but they need to remember that there's always other Chinese takeaways that people can go to... Mixed feelings about the takeaway...We tend to make more of our own Chinese meals these days. I wouldn't recommend the takeaway anymore - such a shame really as I know the importance of supporting local businesses - especially in the current climate x
Honestly the worst customer service of any place in Rammy, possibly greater Manchester but I haven’t been everywhere. Don’t understand why they are so rude. Maybe they know we have nowhere else to go. I go again and again and am always left feeling like I’ve inconvenienced them. Latest time, walked in, 4 people stood there chatting on their phones until I said excuse me and they still didn’t turn around 🤣 it’s so bad it’s hilarious. Someone please open a Chinese takeaway with a smile, you'll clean up! Food doesn’t even need to be good
This is without a doubt the BEST Chinese takeaway I have ever been to. We have been coming to Kan’s for two decades - growing up locally, this was my family’s go to takeaway for a Saturday night. I am impressed every single time. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the service is fast and efficient, and the food is authentic, delicious, and of excellent quality. Additionally, the portions are very generous, with each container being full to the top. My personal favourite dishes are the salt and pepper chicken and Singapore vermicelli.
We've been ordering from here for 35 years and the food has always been amazing, never had a bad meal. It's our 'go to' place for Chinese food and regular chippy food. The best Singapore fried rice and Chicken satay. Chips are amazing as is everything else. Service is quick and friendly. Cash only, but for great food, who cares. Love this place.
Very cheap, but I can see why! Nothing had any flavour, from the rice to the noodles, even the prawn crackers had no taste! My Husbands pork was worryingly brown toward the edges (like it was old!) The chips were very dry and tiny, tiny ends of potatoes! They don't accept cards, which I find both bizarre and concerning in 2023! 2 stars because the staff seemed nice and portions were generous.
This is definitely my current favourite Chinese take-away. They don't deliver, so we have only used them during our Dry January, but they are definitely worth missing a Saturday afternoon pint for. (The salt and pepper chips are a thing of beauty.)
Best salt and pepper chips ever, hands down. I have never tasted any as good as Kans and I've been to every Chinese around. Only issue is they only take cash and don't deliver. They need to modernise or risk lagging behind due to their refusal to adapt and utilise technology
