We arrived today for the campsite and went for what we thought was going to be a steady pint in the pub. Ended up meeting the owner and his good friend. Cut a long story short the people here were absolutely amazing and we stayed for hours having a great time and laugh with the locals and owner. Recommended to my friends and would recommend to anyone thinking of visiting this pub. Amazing vibe, atmosphere and people. Definitely return, can’t wait for another night here !! Honestly great!. Pints good price, lady behind the bar great, and the company even better!!
Hello, just wanted to leave a review on behalf of our recent stay at the pod near this pub, The Retreat Pod. For some reasons i couldnot send a honest review to that place, the honest review is the pod was not very clean and did not provide all the expected equipment. The kitchen exhaust fan was extremely dirty to the point I did not even want to touch or use it. There were also quite a lot of spiders inside. I would also recommend future guests take photos if they notice any issues on arrival, as we forgot to do so and later realised it is important to have proof so you are not blamed for anything afterwards. However, I would like to say that the pub staff and service were very nice and friendly. This is my honest review based on our experience.
Lovely Friendly pub, clean and good selection of beer and ciders. Lovely beer garden ideal for sunny days. Open fire for winter months.
Sunday carvery, brilliant! 😘👌 Andy, the chef, was fantastic. He couldn't do enough for us and genuinely made our family meal a memorable afternoon. 👏 Great food, lovely pub, nice atmosphere and somewhere we'll definitely be visiting again! 👍
My partner and I went for a meal on Saturday night with two friends that we had just collected from the airport. I had booked a table for the four of us the day before. We all had something different to eat, I had the pie and chips my partner had fish and chips, our friends had the gammon and a different pie to myself. We cleared our plates. Absolutely lovely. Sat by the log burner having a drink after the meal. Brilliant music and atmosphere. Definitely visit this place again!!!
9 of us booked to have a carvery here today.. and it did not disappoint! Was lovely and Andy couldn’t do enough for us. Fabulous food, could really tell he put a lot of time and effort into it. So credit where it’s due! Will definitely be returning. Thank you 😊
We booked the Christmas meal for 6 people for Wednesday 10th December. When we arrived all the staff were friendly and showed us where we were sat. The table was laid with Christmas attire and looked cosy and inviting. Then the food arrived, I dont know how to describe it, other than the goats cheese tart was amazing, it was the best I have ever eaten. The Christmas, turkey dinner was next, again the food was delicious and there was so much of it that most of us took our puddings to go as we couldn't eat any more. The cauliflower cheese that accompanied was delicious and I want the receipe. The pudding I had, was the brioche bread and butter pudding, it was heavenly served with lots of double cream. All through the meal, the staff made sure we were comfortable and bought out extra gravy and cranberry sauce when requested. Overall, probably one of the best places I have eaten in a long time, both for the food and the service. Highly recommend and we will definitely be going back again.
