Urban Fresh Ely

We came to urban fresh before and was impressed with the food but today was a disappointment all round. We ordered the 3 tacos on the starter menu and each were £11 so you expect something half decent. All weren’t great for multiple reasons. We’re not complainers but did end up sending the cod tacos back as they were quite clearly not value for money. The fish was dry and all the other stuff pretty much non existent. The menu stated it came with salsa verde but we actually just had a scraping of non seasoned guacamole and a couple of pieces of corn. Saving grace was lovely service and a manager who validated our complaint and took off the bill. We didn’t feel great about paying for the rest of it either but didn’t want to be cheeky. Just a shame as lovely location and have had a good experience in the past but this has put us off.

Beautiful food. Absolutely wonderful staff. First time here and will definitely be going back soon. I'd like to thank the staff for making my wife's birthday just that little bit more special. Nice riverside seating area 👌.

My wife and I recently came here and what a wonderful little place this is , nestled on the riverbank in Ely this place is a gorgeous place to pop in and eat. The food was delicious and the choice of drinks complimented the dishes well. We chose a selection of Tapas to share and everyone was delicious, we could have easily had another round as they were all scrumptious 😋 we are going back one evening as at night the ambience of the place set along the river will be delightful 👍👊👍

Instagramable food which doesn't taste as good as it looks. I've been looking forward to arepas, but what arrived was super dry (or refried). My friend and I were very disappointed. Great garnish, but not good as a Dish. Second plate was the tacos with verduras asadas. It was very onion heavy, zero taste of chimmichuri, and it had very dry and rubbery paneer cheese. Perhaps again refried. The guacamole was good and Pico de gallo. It just lacked punch and seasoning. The tacos didn't seem to be made from masa harina tampoco :'(. Maybe they should use a 3 red chilli sauce option or a salsa del bomba de Barcelona to spice it up. I asked for a cortado and they made one off menu. It was a nice touch. Service is very fast and attentive. I was not rushed as my friend was running late. I know they were trying to go with paneer as a substitute for queso Latino, but it doesn't hit the mark. Overall, it's s nice menu, but need to tighten up the fried and very dry food.

We had such a lovely meal at Urban Fresh Ely with family and friends — honestly, the whole experience was fantastic! Alfie’s service really stood out. He went above and beyond and made the evening feel extra special. The food was top-notch too — I had the sirloin (medium rare) and tried a few of their signature dishes, and every single one was incredible. If I’m being honest, I probably wouldn’t go for the bread & butter or chorizo & squid next time, but everything else more than made up for it. The mocktails were another highlight — The Movie Star was easily my favourite. We sat outside by the river, and the atmosphere was just perfect — such a lovely way to wrap up a day in the charming little town of Ely. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Words cannot describe the extent of my immense enjoyment in this fine establishment, first and foremost, as a direct result of the hospitality shown to us by your capable and cordial team. Greeted, seated and specially treated by Sheena, ably supported by Siana, this place was a welcome respite from the bracing cold, with warmth in spades, both literal and metaphorical. The warmth, that is. Not the spades. Nothing was too much trouble: the attention to detail, the earnest manner in which we were made to feel like family, the thought that had gone into the styling and service. All of this before I even mention the impeccable food, impressive in both the extensive selection on offer through your well constructed menu, and the quantity and quality, plated so pleasingly as to deceptively demonstrate how my eyes still outrank my belly for scale. I'm legitimately sad that I was so far from home, and can't make myself a regular here, but will definitely make a beeline for this place at the first repeat opportunity.
