To say I am stuffed is an understatement! Having seen a notice for the Felixstowe Conservative Club's 'Seniors Club' lunch on Thursdays, I duly attended in reporting mode. Two courses for just £9.95 was the offer and, for three, including a large bottle of Adnam's low alcohol 'Ghost Ship', my total was just £17. Considering I paid £22 for a bit of meat and no veg at an overpriced restaurant last night, this had to be the bargain of the month. So, what did I choose? Scampi to start, served with a salad dressed with balsamic vinegar, a 'Roast pork special', akin to a Sunday roast, which could have easily fed three and, by the time I had waded through that, slightly regretted ordering apple crumble and custard to follow. There was nothing fancy, just good, plain cooking, done very well and at an incredibly reasonable price. The very friendly chef told me that the roast was very similar to what they offer on Sundays, the Club's busiest day for serving food. As you will see in the photos, there were more vegetables on the plate than Sainsbury's has on display. Well, almost. There were one or two people eating downstairs, but I was the only customer upstairs in the restaurant. Which was a pity, because it's very nicely laid out with white linen tablecloths and deserves much more support. You don't even have to be a member. Remember, £9.95 for two courses. Amazing value.
Lovely venue with beautiful grounds to relax outside. Staff were very courteous.
Went to this place to watch a friend's band. The locals and bar staff were very friendly. Had a great time.
Good range of alcoholic beverages, not seen any entertainment myself but told they have some good acts. Plenty of space and a large garden at rear. Decor a little dated but popular all the same
Came here for a snooker match. Bar lady was helpful Beautiful snooker table on the far right hand side of the room, but kinda awkward when the majority of the "Locals" just stare at you when you walk in.
Sunday Lunch at the Conservative Club is good value for money, well cooked with plenty of vegitables, gravy and crispy roast potatoes. Served in a 1st floor dinning room (There is a stair lift). Check in at the ground floor bar, order and pay for your meal and drinks and head carefully upstairs. Friendly service. Forgot my phone so no photos, sorry.
Freezing everywhere. Toilets ice cold. No hot water.
