The George of Harpenden

Went for a quick meal with some friends over the bank holiday weekend and had such a great time! The food was delicious, the vibes were great, and the atmosphere was really welcoming. A special thanks to Molly, who looked after us and made the experience even better. Would definitely come back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came for a late Mother’s Day celebration and we were VERY looked after! Max served us and was so attentive and lovely! The food was amazing and the decor is beautiful ❤️ couldn’t recommend enough!

Sunday lunch here was top notch. Waitress Abi was great.. excellent service very helpful and the food was terrific. Huge Yorkshire puddings and delicious pigs in blankets with loads of trimmings and a snazzy coravin wine selection 😋

I just visited the George as I was on my way through Harpenden, and wow what an unexpected experience my group and I had, we’ve only been here once before a few years ago and I must admit what an improvement in everything, the food was incredible! I was told that they’ve just started a new menu and it has everything we all wanted a very well put together menu, service was very attentive and understood my groups needs to an incredible standard, never left us waiting for anything! We all spoke about how we all will be returning again. Well done to the whole team at The George! Were a fussy bunch to please, would give it a 6 star if we could

Went for a meal here in the week before Christmas. Enjoyed the meal we had from the Christmas menu. The dining area was nice, but too dark lighting wise in my opinion. Had a bit of a surprise leaving the venue as the bar area and front outside patio area was really busy, with a lot of younger clientele, but it was just before Christmas so expected and looks like a popular venue for the town. Overall a great evening for the meal.

We had a rather disappointing visit here one weekday lunch time. The decor is nice and it’s sizeable inside with plenty of tables, but the service and food was a real let down. The seafood sharing platter was well overcooked, with many of the items indistinguishable from each other, plus the general size didn’t represent good value. We ordered a few other side dishes too which were better, but the size was again disappointing for the price. Despite being the only people inside our plates were never cleared away, even when ordering additional drinks at the bar. There was no offer of any form of table service either. A very expensive lunch time meal which was so lacking we decided to go elsewhere for subsequent drinks; I’m not sure I’d bother returning despite the nice setting.

Both me and my partner went to the George for the first time today for a Sunday roast cooked by Dehaldo and served by Nuria we was not disappointed genuinely loved every bit of it I had the beef rump and my partner had the lamb we will definitely go back again
