An absolute gem in Kendal. Beautiful, cosy cafe with delicious, fresh food for all tastes. The house is packed with character and the friendly staff is very helpful. I had the Insalata di Caprino with smoked salmon for lunch and it was fab. It can get busy around lunch time, so best to make a reservation upfront. There is lots of seating available upstairs.

An absolute must if you want a cosy spot with lots of character. Marra has everything you could wish for: great food, peaceful atmosphere, and friendly and efficient staff. It is hidden down a short alley but that adds to the charm. Would highly recommend it for locals or if you’re passing through.

Tucked away just off the main square, in one of Kendal’s historic yards, lies Marra, a culinary oasis serving delicious, comforting, rustic food in a relaxing and friendly environment. It’s easy to miss since its entrance is so unassuming, but I urge you NOT to walk by without poking your head in. That’s what my wife and I did, and were greeted by a tranquil garden courtyard and patio that beckoned to explore further. Inside the historic building, you’ll find friendly staff who genuinely seem love what they do; tasty, satisfying food that kept us coming coming back for 3 days of our 7 day visit to Kendal (highly recommend the Breakfast Flatbread!); and a warm, cosy, relaxing atmosphere that entices you to stay. And I’d like to give special thanks to Duty Manager, Storm, who runs, a tight, efficient yet sociable ship, and owner James who sets the perfect tone for his employees and business. In fact, the entire staff projected a powerful sense of community; as my wife and I hope to make Kendal our permanent home in the near future, we’re eager to be part of such a welcoming community and can’t wait to contribute - both personally and professionally. Coming from a big city (Toronto) which can often feel cold and impersonal, our experiences at Marra were like a refreshing tonic. Don’t miss out on this gem!

Lots of people say this, but Marra really is a hidden gem. You wouldn’t know it was here without a recommendation. Quirky, higgledepiggledy building with loads of character. Super-friendly staff. Really good pizzas. Dog friendly.

Sat in Marra at the moment and just finished a sardine and olive flatbread. It has to be the best sourdough with topping I’ve had. Happy to recommend this fantastic place.

Fabulous little hidden gem off the main street in Kendal. We're so happy we found Marra, the coffee was amazing and the pizzas were the best we've had in the UK for a long time. We're definitely going to be back! Staff were friendly, efficient and laid back. Great attitude from all of them, they're lovely. Takeaway cakes were delicious too!!
