The outdoor seating setup creates a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, which was made even better by the live music. Everything from the meal to the service was great. I highly recommend this place to everyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable night out.
My husband and I recently discovered the Plough & Harrow and only wish we’d found it sooner. A proper little hidden gem. From the outside it looks like a country pub. Once you’re inside you are transported to Greece. You are greeted with the warm smile and friendly welcome of hostess Nicole in the comfy bar area before being escorted into the main restaurant. Fairy lights and faux foliage across the ceiling, Greek pictures and decorations, music playing softly enough to create atmosphere, but not so loud you can’t hear each other across the table. We have enjoyed the Mega Meze twice now. Mega is the right word. Wow! You get so much for your money and if you can’t eat it all (which we never can) they’re happy to box it up for you to go. Everything is fresh and homemade. The baklava made by Nicole is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Crispy, syrupy, with all those spiced flavours. As I don’t drink alcohol I was very happy to see Mocktails on the list. The Athena is lovely. On our second visit we took our children with us who are 9 and 13. Nicole was so lovely and warm with my daughter. Even not minding that she took off her shoes and laid on one of the sofas after her food because she was so full. 😂 She answered all of her questions too with no annoyance, only giving off love and warmth. We will be back ❤️
Amazing! Amazing food, great flavour, great portions, super friendly staff. Very attentive and kind. The restaurant has a quaint homely feel. Unfortunately, the local clientele are not the most friendly or welcoming, but that's not the restaurant's fault in the end! If you can ignore that part, the rest is wonderful. Very strong four stars from me!
Decent food, nice decor, quite loud, service quite slow. Would go again.
For a birthday lunch on a Sunday, The Plough and Harrow Greek Taverna was a perfectly decent spot. I'm not going to be too critical here because its charm could be quickly tarnished by comparing this Taverna to finer eateries. Despite the fact that the owners are not themselves Greek, there's a home-cooked honesty to this place. Do not expect fine dining, but do expect plenty of well cooked food. In fact, the Mega Meze for four people was enormous. The ribs were tender, the chicken succulent, the rice fluffy and so on. However, with four generous courses, it was a bit of a food challenge and the food definitely won! Thankfully, the owners boxed up about half of it which became the following day's dinner. Result! The wine selection appears to lean into the cheap, cheerful and guzzly ethos. The Plough and Harrow is a little out of the way and street parking is in short supply. That said, inside is pleasantly airy with larger tables than most restaurants (they need to be for all that food). Service definitely comes with a smile. There's also an enclosed courtyard to the rear that has additional seating. I am sure it would be rather pleasant on a balmy summer's evening. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and wish the owners much success for the future.
I've been here quite a few times now, and it's a lovely place with very kind, genuine owners. They even gifted us a cheesecake as it is what we always go back for, alongside the best mezze in the area. Thanks guys, brilliant service as always!
You won't leave this place hungry!!! We had the £25 mezze and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. The amount of food we got was ridiculous. So much so I forgot how many courses we had! The food was very nice and the staff are very friendly. If you like Greek food then you really should give this place a try!
