Decent visit for a birthday meal during the week. Slightly on the pricey side coming in at £140 for 2 adults and a 10 year old but we ate well and had bits to take home which they're very accommodating for! Being a keen low n slow enthusiast at home, the food was okay and glad we went to check it. Possibly not amazing enough to return but let's see! We enjoyed the visit nonetheless and would recommend others check it out!
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and today we did. The food was massive and a great selection, however some of our meat platter was just barely warm. The sausage was piping hot, rib and brisket a good temp but the chicken was just warm. I really do like my food to be hot. Service was great our waitress was really Lovley and funny. We shared the one person platter with extra fries and popcorn brisket bites and we couldn’t finish it. The beer was good hickories pale ale 🍺 wife had a peach sweet tea (it was very sweet) kid had a cookie milkshake that was something special. Atmosphere was nice chairs a little small and hard and slippy ha I slid around a bit 🤣. Service great food selection great just needed to be a bit hotter and you would have a winner 🥇.
Easy parking directly outside. Shared space with hotel & Caldecotte lake visitors, so it can look busy. Our visit was Saturday afternoon. We were a booked table and the initial encounter at desk was not exactly friendly or organised. That said we were taken to a window table with a great lake view. Country style music playing in background setting a nice, fitting mood. We ordered a few starters to share, 3 of us ordered platters for main course which has a variety of meats, slaw, French fries. Really filling main courses requiring take out boxes, which were readily made available. One of our party asked for the table water to be replenished it took 3 requests for this to happen. Being adults enough room was left for desserts with some sharing necessary. Not the biggest dessert section but what arrived hit the spot see pics. Bill £200 for 4 people, 4 drinks each, 3 starters, 3 main courses, 3 desserts. Service charge included. Would consider visiting again, question mark on value for money!
If you’re looking for a proper American-style dining experience, Hickory’s Smokehouse absolutely nails it. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is spot on — it genuinely feels like you’ve stepped into a classic American smokehouse. The atmosphere, the music, everything just works together perfectly. The staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home straight away. And the food… honestly, out of this world. Every bite was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. You can really tell they care about quality. It’s maybe a little on the pricier side, but it’s 100% worth it for the experience you get. And the cherry on top — they serve proper root beer, which just completes the whole American feel. Easily a 5-star experience. Can’t wait to go back!
We had a great first meal at Hickory’s. We booked around 2 weeks in advance and highly recommend doing this, especially if you want to go on the weekend. All staff were super friendly and welcoming, and offered advice about the menu. The booth seating was super comfortable. We really enjoyed the food. It is expensive but we felt the portion sizes were generous, even with the drinks too. Overall, a lovely experience and we’re looking forward to returning.
Great spot for brunch after a walk around caldecotte lake. The food was great. Breakfast muffin tasted very good along with the tater tots! The pulled pork burger was overloaded with pork and had a very nice flavour to it. The venue itself was large, plenty of seating and well ventilated in the area we were sitting in. A little on the pricey side. The venue has onsite parking.
A lovely location with ample parking and seating overlooking Caldicotte Lake. Lakeside outside seating is also available too. Food is good, but not quite authentic southern state quality )IYKYK). We found the items we chose (appetiser section) was deep fried, not slow cooked as we expected, which meant it was a little tough. However, it's worth a visit as the menu is sizeable with plenty of choice. Nice music is played through the bar tannoy system, which adds to the ambience of the venue. Design and layout of the restaurant is very nice.
