⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an amazing experience at Currytown in Swansea! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. We did have to wait a little longer than expected for our food, but the lovely lady serving us was so kind and thoughtful—she surprised us with complimentary stuffed croissants while we waited, which was such a generous gesture and made the wait completely worthwhile. When our food arrived, the very first bite had us saying "wow!" Everything was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The Karak tea was absolutely delicious as well—one of the best we’ve had. It’s rare to find a place that combines outstanding food with such warm and caring customer service. Thank you to the team for making our visit so memorable. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend Currytown to anyone visiting Swansea!
I came here with some friends back in February and had a wonderful time. The food is cooked fresh and tastes heavenly, the most authentic curry I've ever had. It was very affordable (I spent less than £20 on a curry+drink+rice+flatbreads) and the service was immaculate. Yes the wait was long but that's because the food was made from scratch so don't go in if you're on a time limit. The lady serving us was very welcoming and provided amazing service. 10/10 would come again and recommend to everyone I know.
Currytown Chaiwalaa is seriously up there with the best spots I ever ate from. The owner Jumana being such a lovely presence with her kind and giving nature she made sure both me and my brother feel super welcomed and comfortable giving us freebies in the form of a lovely appetiser, some fried chicken rice and traditional lovely tea in the end. As she knew financially we couldn't pay to eat more which goes to show her care towards her customers. The food was honestly unreal, genuinely better than any Indian restaurant food I ever had. I am still daydreaming of the taste that sumptuous meal had. The place is also very nicely decorated with a chill vibe to it. If you are living in, around Swansea or just visiting Currytown Chaiwalaa is an absolute must try. If you don't try it you are missing out😅
Absolutely avoid this restaurant. One of the worst takeaway experiences we’ve ever had. We placed a takeaway order worth £30 and were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant at the agreed collection time, collected the food immediately, and to our surprise, the food was already cold. There is no excuse for serving cold food that has just been prepared for collection. The order itself was also incorrect. We ordered two pav bhajis with four extra pavs, two masala dosas, and one plain dosa. We paid for a total of eight pav, but were given only six. One of the masala dosas was also missing the potato filling. On top of that, the portion sizes were shockingly small. The food was served in what looked like side-plate portions rather than proper main-meal portions, making it extremely poor value for money. The food quality, quantity, and presentation were all disappointing. What made this experience even worse was the way the restaurant handled our complaint. When we contacted them to explain the issues and requested a refund, we expected at least an apology or a willingness to investigate what had gone wrong. Instead, two members of staff, including the manager, were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. They refused to listen, showed no concern for the missing items, the cold food, or the poor portion sizes, and made no attempt whatsoever to resolve the situation. Rather than taking customer feedback seriously or offering any solution, they became confrontational. They were unwilling to accept responsibility or even consider a refund. We have an audio recording of the conversation, which reflects exactly how our complaint was handled. As tourists, this experience completely spoiled what should have been a pleasant meal. We paid £30 for cold, incomplete food and received appalling customer service when we tried to resolve the issue. We will be raising this matter with the relevant local authority and pursuing a payment dispute. Based on our experience, we strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant. Save your money and spend it somewhere that values its customers, serves fresh food, and knows how to treat people with basic respect.
I’m honestly so glad I came across this hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, the place felt warm, cosy, and welcoming, with pleasant background music that made the atmosphere so relaxing and enjoyable. What amazed me first was how affordable everything was. The prices were incredibly pocket-friendly, especially considering the quality and authenticity of the food. My partner and I ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was full of flavour and truly reminded us of the authentic taste of India, bringing back lovely memories from our trip there. We started with their Kadak Chai, Paani Poori, Dahi Poori, and Samosa Chaat all absolutely delicious. The Kadak Chai was honestly one of the best I’ve had, perfectly made and so comforting. For the mains, we ordered the Chicken Biryani and Paneer Butter Masala with Butter Naan. Everything tasted fresh, rich, and perfectly spiced. You can genuinely tell the food is made with care and passion. To finish, they kindly gave us their new Bun Butter Jam dessert on the house, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. The biggest surprise came when we got the bill, it was nearly a quarter of what we usually spend eating out, yet the quality and experience were far better than many expensive restaurants we’ve visited. The owner and chef were both incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more memorable. I’m genuinely so happy I discovered this place through Google because it’s now become my new favourite spot to treat myself every week. Highly recommend Currytown Chaiwalaa to anyone looking for authentic Indian food, amazing hospitality, cosy vibes, and incredible value for money!
